First Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Joomart Otorbayev met with World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Laura Tuck, World Bank Regional Director for Central Asia Saroj Kumar Jha and Director of the World Bank Office in Kyrgyzstan Alex Kremer on February 13, the press service of the Government reported. Joomart Otorbayev congratulated Laura Tuck on her appointment and expressed confidence that further relations of Kyrgyzstan with the World Bank will remain open and joint work will be effective. "2013 was very successful for Kyrgyzstan. We were able to achieve economic growth and held a series of important reforms. Hopefully, the economic growth will contribute to political stability," he said. Furthermore, businessmen and farmers have achieved good results. Farmers of Talas region produced 100 thousand tons of beans and sold for $200 million. Besides, intensive construction is observed in Bishkek. Today, more than 100 high-rise buildings are being built in the capital, the First Vice Prime Minister continued. During the meeting, the parties discussed priorities for further cooperation, including in the framework of a road map to reform the public sector, as well as technical issues on operations to support development policy. Draft Budget Code of Kyrgyzstan and opportunities for improving the World Bank's Country Policy and Institutional Assessment were mentioned as well.
