ADB loan for HA-H road

February 15, 2014

Asian Development Bank (ADB) will provide loans for Hasan Abdal- Havellian (HA-H) Expressway. The project will cut freight costs and transport time in northern part of National Trade Corridor. The project will connect existing M1 at Hasan Abdal to Abbotabad and Mansehra in north. Due to high traffic volume and deteriorated road health, E35 is needed to improve sub regional connectivity in Pakistan and to China, Afghanistan and Central Asia.

According to ADB technical report the proposed project is part of Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) project. It will link neighboring countries by developing inter provincial links and improve sub-regional connectivity. The project is part of the famous Karakoram Highway (KKH), which connects Kashgar in China to Abbottabad in Pakistan meeting Grand Trunk Road at Hassan Abdal. It is also a part of ancient Silk Road.
