Feb. 12--Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., will host a Facebook Q-and-A at 6 p.m. Thursday to answer questions about her efforts to build an all-of-the-above energy strategy in North Dakota and the U.Ss.
"In North Dakota, we do it all -- oil, gas, coal, wind, biofuels -- and are helping lead our country toward North American energy security and independence. And I'm pushing for the rest of the country to follow our lead," Heitkamp said. "This Facebook Q-and-A is an opportunity for me to hear directly from North Dakotans about their thoughts on energy issues. I'm looking forward to chatting with them about my efforts to find a viable path forward for coal, the need to build the Keystone XL pipeline, the importance for North Dakota to continue to harness our energy resources, and any other ideas that may have to keep North Dakota in the forefront of energy independence."
In addition to in-person meetings, phone calls, emails and letters, social media is another way for Heitkamp to connect and hear from North Dakotans. Heitkamp has done several Twitter town halls in the past about education, the conflict in Syria and the need for a long-term farm bill. This will be her first Facebook Q-and-A.
To participate in the Facebook Q-and-A, log on to www.Facebook.com and become a fan of Heitkamp's Facebook page. Post a question relating to energy at 6 p.m. Thursday on the Facebook Q-and-A post that will appear. Follow along to see the other questions and Heitkamp's responses.
Heitkamp will respond to as many questions as possible relating to energy.
