Trainings for audit of public procurement, as well as development of a methodology for audit of public procurement are important steps to ensure effective management of public finance, the press service of the Audit Chamber of Kyrgyzstan reported on February 12 citing Director of the World Bank Office in Kyrgyzstan Alex Kremer. He positively evaluated activities of the Audit Chamber and noticed Kyrgyzstan has made significant progress in improving the public procurement system in recent years: initiatives suggested by the Government; amendment to the law on public procurement; establishment of the relevant control of the Ministry of Finance. In addition, the Audit Chamber developed its own methodology of audit procurement. The World Bank is ready to continue to provide consulting and expert assistance to improve the efficiency of public finance management, Mr. Kremer added. Chairman of the Audit Chamber Elmira Ibraimova expressed gratitude to the World Bank and highlighted the importance of the trainings. "Experts of the Audit Chamber developed the methodology. It contains clearly defined methods and criteria for evaluation of procurement. Hopefully, the document will be finalized with the assistance of the partners and we will improve audit of public procurement," she said. The parties also discussed international experience of auditing public procurement.
