OpenStack is an open source cloud computing platform that allows the management of large pools of compute, storage, and networking resources in cloud environments. Wind River is helping the industry apply OpenStack to network functions virtualization (NFV) environments for carrier infrastructure. By leveraging its deep experience in telecommunications, Wind River is able to develop extensions to OpenStack that can address carrier needs that are required to maintain the level of carrier grade service level agreements (SLAs). Current OpenStack efforts are designed to meets the rigorous demands of communications networks, but will be applicable across other industries as well.
