Parliamentary Committee on Transport, Communications, Architecture and Building approved a draft law on ratification of loan agreement between Kyrgyz Republic and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to finance the project on rehabilitation of water supply and sanitation in Kant on February 11 at a regular meeting, the Parliament's press service reported. According to Deputy Minister of Finance Mirlan Baygonchokov, one of the priorities of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic is to provide quality drinking water. Deficit access to quality drinking water exists in small towns and villages located in remote areas, he noted. The project worth 6.5 million euros will be financed by a loan from EBRD iao 1,5 mln euros, a grant from the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) iao 3.6 mln euros and means of technical assistance in the form of grants - 1.4 mln euros. Maturity of the loan is 15 years, including a 3-year grace period.
