Kazakh national telecom operator Kazakhtelecom posts net profit of USD 126mn in 2013.

Kazakh national telecommunication operator Kazakhtelecom posted net profit of KZT 19.68bn (USD 126mn) in 2013, the company has reported. Last year, Kazakhtelecom posted net profit of KZT 222.1bn which was generated by sale of 49% stake in mobile operator GSM Kazakhstan. Revenues in 2013 amounted to KZT 190.743bn, up from KZT 170.4bn posted in 2012.

The company also informed that capacity of cross-border links was increased to 671 Gbps, and the internet gateway grew from 230 Gbps to 360 Gbps. Kazakhteleocm also added 120 km of fibre-optic network, as well as increased the capacity of the DWDM network. LTE services were launched in Karaganda, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Shymkent, Zhezkazgan, Temirtau, Atyrau and Aktau. Besides the network was expanded in Astana and Almaty.

Kazakhtelecom is the largest telecommunication company in Kazakhstan. National sovereign fund SamrukKazyna controls 51% stake in the company.
