ANKARA Social networking company Facebook has reported profits of $523 million and a 63 percent increase in revenue for the fourth quarter in 2013. In a statement released on Thursday, Facebook reported revenue $7.87 billion with 55 percent increase year on year and profits of $1.5 billion for the full year for 2013. Revenue for the fourth quarter of 2013 totaled $2.59 billion while it was $1.59 billion in the fourth quarter of 2012. "It was a great end to the year for Facebook ," said Mark Zuckerberg in the statement, Facebook founder and CEO. "We're looking forward to our next decade and to helping connect the rest of the world." Facebook's share soared more than ten percent in extended trading after the results came out. The networking giant Facebook , which turns 10 years old next week, had 1.23 billion monthly users worldwide at the end of 2013. But only, 757 million signed in at least once a day, falling 22 percent from a year earlier. Mobile advertising revenue represented approximately 53 percent of advertising revenue for the fourth quarter of 2013, up from approximately 23 percent of advertising revenue in the fourth quarter of 2012. Facebook had a 16 percent share of all mobile advertising dollars spent in the US this year, up from 9 percent in 2013 according to eMarketer. Google is the biggest player in the world, with a 32.4 percent share of the $117.6 billion spent on digital advertising in 2013. englishnews@aa.com.tr
