It weighs just 121 grams and measures 6.9mm, making it one of the slimmest device in the market. The slimmest is
The five-inch Full HD IPS display is powered by quad-core 1.5
When setting up the phone initially, the language is Arabic and I needed my Arabic friend's help to change the language to English.
The IPS panel with 440 pixels per inch density is same as Samsung Galaxy S4 and offers very good viewing angles. Don't worry about scratches as it has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 screen beveled at the edges.
The best part is that the screen does not get smudgy. Colours appear vibrant and bright on the screen and the text and images are clear even under sunlight.
It runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system out-of-the-box and not 4.3 version.
It is good for those who download less apps but those with many apps will find it difficult to search and there is no way to make it in alphabetical order. The good thing is users can create 18 home screens.
The main feature of this device is the 5MP front-facing wide-angle 84 degree lens. Most smartphones in the market has 2.1MP, except
The 13MP auto-focus back-illuminated sensor with LED flash takes very good photos with rich details in daylight. In pitch dark conditions, it looks washed out and grainy despite LED flash. There are 24 effects apart from the custom settings and filters found on most high-end smartphones. The device can take picture-in-picture and can take 10 burst shots in one click. It also has panorama, HDR, beauty, smile, macro and speech extensions. In speech mode, a user can take a photo and record nine seconds of speech. Photos can be easily edited and shared immediately.
Watching videos on the device is superb due to Full HD IPS display with bright colours and rich details.
Some of the preloaded apps are good and useful. The Shareit app allows data transfer from phone to phone; Syncit allows contacts to be backed up; Secureit anti-virus software and some smart features like the phone will ring louder when it is in your pocket; decreases tone volume when the device is picked up; automatically answers the call when the device is raised to the ear; the size ratio of the dialer keys will change based on the angle of the phone to facilitate single-handed use.
It has four preloaded games - Asphalt 7, Block Breaker, Fishing Joy and Little Big City. Due to the low-cost processor, graphic-rich games are bit sluggish and the phone also lags when too many apps are downloaded.
Regarding connectivity, it has WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G. No near-field communications or LTE.
The non-removable 2000mAh battery is not as strong as other high-end smartphones and fails to withstand one full day of heavy use. For moderate users it can stand one full with power saving features. In a nutshell, the slim device is worth the money with beautiful design and specs. It is priced at Dh1699.
