Martinez Named President of Comprehensive Care

Comprehensive Care Corp. of Tampa, Fla., has named Ramon Martinez as its new president and elected him a member of its board of directors, the company announced Monday.

Mr. Martinez had been president of CompCare Pharmacy Solutions since April 2013, and senior management advisor prior to that. He also served in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a lieutenant colonel.

Mr. Martinez has "been an effective leader in introducing our innovative pharmacy plan to the commercial/union and government markets, (and) has also reorganized, streamlined and motivated our staff to focus with laser precision on the overall health, attitude and success of the company," Clark A. Marcus, Comprehensive Care chairman and CEO, said in a news release. "Col. Martinez has the profound background, extensive relationships and experience to introduce our unique programs to key government officials, unions and corporate leaders throughout the U.S."

Mr. Martinez earned a master's degree in philosophy from the University of California, Santa Barbara, a master's in public administration from the University of Northern Colorado, and a bachelor's in philosophy and geography from California State University, Long Beach.

"We have laid a solid foundation with a leaner, more capable and integrated team," Mr. Martinez said in the release. "Our window of opportunity is wide open, and I believe 2014 will be a breakthrough year for our company."

He added that he expected the company to "play a significant role in revolutionizing health care in the U.S."

During his 20-year military career, Mr. Martinez served as combat crew commander, test director and program manager of intercontinental ballistic missiles; an assistant professor at the U.S. Air Force Academy; and chief of Latin American Strategy of U.S. Southern Command, among other appointments.

He is a former president and CEO of Progreso Latino Inc., Rhode Island's flagship Hispanic empowerment agency and largest bilingual, multicultural community-based organization, according to the release, and was the Hispanic American Chamber of Commerce of Rhode Island Community Leader of 2009.

Established in 1969, Comprehensive Care provides behavioral health, substance abuse and pharmacy management services.
