KUWAIT : Farwaniya detectives arrested two people who made purchases valued at thousands of dinars using stolen credit cards. The arrest took place following investigations after police received information about two Malaysian nationals staying in a five-star hotel in Kuwait City who made large purchases of expensive brands. Police found credit cards that belonged to European nationals in the suspects' possession. Investigations revealed that they used the cards to purchase items worth KD 16,200 in total, including smartphones and watches which they kept inside their hotel rooms. They were taken to the authorities for further investigations. Suicide attempt Police reported to a house in Mangaf Saturday night in response to an emergency call in which a Kuwaiti woman said that her son was about to commit suicide. Police placed the young man, who was holding a knife against his neck, under control before he was taken by paramedics to Adan Hospital . His condition was described as stable after he received treatment for wounds on his neck and hand. The man had been through psychological problems that made him short-tempered in the past few weeks that preceded the incident, according to his mother. Wafra camp fire A man died in a fire on Sunday at a camp in Wafra . Firefighters accompanied by paramedics and police had rushed to the scene after the fire was reported, and discovered that one victim had burned to death. The person is believed to be the camp's Asian keeper since he was the only person there at the time of the fire according to investigations. Police could not confirm his identity because all his identifications and belongings were gutted in the blaze. The body was taken for an autopsy and a case was filed for investigations. Amghara accident A man was killed and another was injured in a two-car collision on Sunday in Amghara. Paramedics headed to the scene located at the Fourth Ring Road with police shortly after the accident was reported. They pronounced one driver, identified as a stateless resident, dead at the scene, while they helped the other driver, identified as a Kuwaiti national, to the hospital. Investigations went underway to determine the circumstances which led to the accident. In a separate incident, a male driver died after he was run over on the Seventh Ring Road . Preliminary investigations indicate that the 24-year-old Kuwaiti was changing his car's tyre at the side of the road when he was hit by a speeding vehicle. Criminal investigators were summoned after paramedics pronounced the man dead, and they transferred the body to the forensic department after examining the scene. Police apprehended the driver and took him to the nearest police station for questioning. All rights reserved.
