Nomura logs 6-fold rise in net profit for April-Dec.

January 30, 2014

TOKYO , Jan. 30 -- ( Kyodo ) _ Nomura Holdings Inc. said Thursday it recorded a group net profit of 152.34 billion yen in the April to December period, up more than sixfold from 24.81 billion yen in the previous year, partly due to brisk trading backed by a stock rally. Japan's biggest brokerage house also reported that its net revenue grew 0.6 percent to 1.17 trillion yen from the same nine-month period a year earlier. Nomura attributed the profit to increased commission revenues from sales of investment trusts and stock brokerage services. The company does not release earnings forecasts due to uncertain market conditions.
