Jan. 30--The messages U.S. Rep. Tim Huelskamp, R-Fowler/Hutchinson, wrote on twitter.com during President Obama's State of the Union Address proved gist for a Tuesday night television interview with MSNBC's Rachel Maddow.

And that interview gained national attention. It can be watched at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wD4tBRd_qZo.

Huelskamp reiterated the criticism he tweeted during the speech, and called Maddow a "cheerleader" for the Obama Administration.

As for his tweets, Huelskamp told Maddow, "Enjoy them, enjoy them."

She challenged him on his points, saying at one point, not complimentary, "You're amazing."

She said she would like to have him on her MSNBC show another time, and he said he would love to be a guest.

Huelskamp's twitter feed said the Congressman participated in a National Public Radio interview after Obama's address, and later appeared on Roland S. Martin's "News One Now," an online television program.

Huelskamp's twitter stream Tuesday night:

--1st Release of Obama speech reads like dictates from a King. All orders he will do to bypass Congress

--Mr. Obama our energy prowess is occurring in spite of you not bc (because) of you.

--What you will not hear from the president tonight? Repeat of these 3 #broken promises ("If you like your health care plan, you will be able to keep your health care plan." "If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period." "We'll lower premiums by up to $2,500 for a typical family per year.")

--Mr. Obama how can you rebuild trust when your own words were last years "Lie of the Year?"

--Imperium: Wherever and whenever I can act without constraints I will.

--The New Imperial Presidency-Obama will do everything "without legislation" to advance his radical agenda. Guess you deleted Article 1 of the Constitution?

--Technology didn't kill the middle class, Mr. President. EPA, Obamacare, TaxedEnoughAlready: That kills the middle class.

--After Obama's crony capitalism he wants to recognize the value of small businesses? Too bad his is choking them with Obamacare.

--O brother, Big Brother says climate change is real and our fault

--Doesn't Obama White House pay less to women? http://goo.gl/3ifDUW

--What peace of mind Mr. President more than 5Million have lost coverage bc (because) of your #ObamaCare

--Citizenship means signing up for a govt program.

--Translation: I don't like the 2nd Amendment so watch out.

--Terrorists don't launch attacks against our country, I thought it was just offensive video tapes...

--Was there a diplomat in Benghazi that gave his life for his country Mr. President?

--Obama politicizes the military to end his speech. Totally ex pected, Mr. President.

The hashtags Huelskamp attached to his tweets during the State of the Union included "#Lawless" and "#LiesYouTell."

Other Kansans also offered responses to the yearly address.

U.S. Senate hopeful Milton Wolf, a physician and Republican in Johnson County, is a distant cousin of President Obama. So, he billed his video reply as "The Family's Response to the State of the Union."

"You cannot choose your family, but you can rise up and stop your family from destroying America," Wolf began in the video at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDhsG2JYPlI.

"You want to drive Barack Obama crazy? Send his fearless and conservative cousin to the United States Senate," Wolf also said.

Wolf challenged Obama's stated desire to give a fair shot at success for all. "He wants your success to be less so that others can have more," Wolf said.

Wolf devoted a large chunk of his State of the Union response to an attack on his Republican primary opponent, Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Dodge City, labeling him a big spender.

Roberts also stepped before the camera -- twice -- to counter Obama's State of the Union. He, too, faulted Obama, but he made no reference to Wolf.

Roberts said he will continue to fight against Obama's "thinly disguised" income redistribution efforts, in a video posted at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZn6Ee_BrMY&list=UURpswvC8LgxzE9AYSFpqUgw.

Before the speech, Roberts appeared on Fox News and told Neil Cavuto he had urged Obama to take two to three minutes during the State of the Union to take responsibility for the attacks at Benghazi that killed four people including a U.S. ambassador to Libya, and to "tell the American people what the heck is going on."

Obama did not make that part of his speech, but Roberts pledged to keep u p the call for answers.
