BRIEF: TeamSnap, Boulder team sports app maker, raises $7.5M in equity funding

Jan. 28 --TeamSnap, a Boulder -based developer of a web service and app to manage sports teams and groups, has raised more than $7.5 million in equity funding, according to filings made with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission today. The latest investment comes after what was a very active 2013 for TeamSnap. Last year, TeamSnap received a $2.75 million investment from the parent company of the Toronto Star and then made two acquisitions. TeamSnap purchased Weplay, a youth sports-focused social networking and team management site, and also , a sports league and team website management service from Quality Coaching. TeamSnap officials were not immediately available for comment today. Since its founding, TeamSnap has raised more than $11 million , according to SEC filings. The latest round included participation from 21 investors, according to today's SEC filing. TeamSnap also now lists Jason Mendelson , of Boulder's Foundry Group , as a director, according to the filing. ___ (c)2014 the Daily Camera (Boulder, Colo.)
