Flir Systems announced the launch of the FLIR ThermoSight R- Series, a thermal imaging rifle scope.
According to a release, the R-Series line of thermal scopes utilizes Flir's thermal imaging technology and commercial operating model to provide a low-cost scope that provides the recreational hunter the ability to see in complete darkness. The R-Series is a commercial product in Flir's ThermoSight line of weapon sights, which includes models for law enforcement and military markets.
Compact, rugged, and easy to use, Flir noted that the ThermoSight R-Series is a fully integrated, stand-alone scope that attaches to common rifle rail systems. The ThermoSight R-Series is available in six different models with a range of wide and narrow field of view lenses and up to a 16x magnification. The R-Series also offers automatic image optimization, an advanced shock reduction system, multiple reticle options, and FLIR's exclusive InstAlert capability, which highlights warm objects of interest in red on a black and white image.
"The ThermoSight R-Series scope leverages both FLIR's expertise in developing advanced, military-grade imaging products and FLIR's industry-leading cost structure to attain an unmatched level of performance and price," said Andy Teich, President and CEO of Flir. "Developing and delivering a distinctive, affordable, and high quality solution to a large, underpenetrated market for thermal technology is a hallmark of FLIR's strategy."
