Xceedium Enters into Partnership with WidePoint

January 24, 2014

Xceedium, Inc., a provider of privileged identity management for hybrid-cloud environments, announced a partnership with WidePoint Corp.

In a release, Xceedium said that WidePoint has combined Xceedium's Xsuite platform with a high-performance network-attached hardware security module to deliver a solution that controls access, monitors, and records the activities of privileged users across hybrid cloud environments.

The partnership extends WidePoint's enterprise class PIVotal ID solution with a Privileged Management Portal (PMP) and takes advantage of Xsuite's high assurance multi-factor authentication and PIV/CAC smartcard integration.

The PIVotal ID PMP solution addresses each of the key endpoints necessary for achieving strong mutual authentication and high fidelity access control, particularly in defining and enforcing security policies for sensitive systems across traditional data centers, virtualized infrastructure, and public and private clouds with FIPS-compliant key management. This protection has become particularly important in the wake of the NSA/Edward Snowden breach, the latest and most public demonstration of the severe risk privileged users pose and the massive damage they can cause without the appropriate controls in place. As a managed service or turn-key operation, WidePoint's PIVotal ID PMP vaults and manages credentials, federates identities, and protects systems regardless of where they are located, helping to reduce risk, ensure compliance, and lower administrative overhead based on an organization's desired level of assurance.

"WidePoint is pleased to partner with Xceedium and leverage the Xsuite platform," said Steven L. Komar, WidePoint CEO and Chairman. "The PIVotal ID PMP marks another milestone consistent with our strategic investment in technology development and our goal of providing best-in-class Managed Mobility Services and Solutions."

"Xceedium is proud to work with an innovative solution provider like WidePoint that understands how to help customers improve security and address important security mandates," said Glenn C. Hazard, Xceedium CEO and Chairman. "Xsuite's next generation privileged identity management is the perfect complement to the PIVotal ID solution and we look forward to collaborating with WidePoint's talented team to help protect our nation's critical infrastructure."

WidePoint is a provider of secured, cloud-delivered, enterprise- wide information technology-based solutions that can enable enterprises and agencies to deploy fully compliant IT services in accordance with government mandated regulations and advanced system requirements. WidePoint has several major government and commercial contracts.

Ken Ammon, Chief Strategy Officer at Xceedium, said, "The combination of the most highly certified provider of privileged access control solutions with the most highly certified provider of strong identity makes this a compelling offering." He continued: "Particularly in critical infrastructures where providing strong access control and monitoring can dramatically reduce the risks posed by users with privileged access."
