CSR Becomes Executive Member of the Mopria Alliance

January 24, 2014

CSR announced that it has joined the Mopria Alliance as an executive member.

According to a release, its alliance membership will allow CSR to actively participate in the selection and development of mobile printing standards in an era of increased mobility. CSR will join members including founders Canon, HP, Samsung and Xerox to help work towards a seamless mobile printing experience for consumers.

CSR noted that the aim of the Mopria Alliance is to bring together global technology companies to pursue the goal of providing simple wireless printing from smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices. CSR joins as a global vendor which can provide a complete SOC, connectivity and software solution that supports all major print formats.

"As a leading provider of mobile printing technology to printing manufacturers, CSR is ideally placed to proactively contribute to the Mopria Alliance," says Neil Epstein, Senior Director of Product Marketing, Document Imaging at CSR. "IDC Research has forecasted that by 2015 50 percent of smartphone owners and 58 percent of tablet owners will utilize mobile printing. The challenge for printer manufacturers is twofold; to enable convenient printing from mobile devices as a direct substitute for printing from a PC and, in the longer term, to open up new use cases such as initiating print jobs from wearable devices."

The Mopria Alliance is an ideal forum for CSR to further its vision of making mobile printing easy and reliable. CSR is focused on making it simple for people to locate and wirelessly connect with printers and reliably get the printed output they want.

CSR added it provides a range of mobile solutions, including:

-IPS Universal Print Interpreter - the industry's adopted print language software, handling all standard formats

-DirectOffice - software that directly renders Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel documents into high-fidelity output, without the need of a PC

-UniFi Wi-Fi devices - power-efficient, single-chip 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi solutions

-Quatro processors -system processors that cover a broad product range including single-function printers, multi-function printers

CSR is a global provider of silicon and software solutions.
