Giorgi Chkheidze , head of Agriculture Projects Management Agency , points that land-poor farmers' assistance program, being launched last year, has duration of 3 years. Then "our farmers need to turn gradually to commercial rails, they should manage to finance their activities themselves", Chkheidze declares. The program "was successfully implemented last year and about 700,000 beneficiaries got benefit", while this year's assistance will be rendered to about 800,000 farmers, he reports. There are minor changes in the program this year we will cultivate land to all beneficiaries, who have arable sites of up to 1.25 ha, Chkheidze points. Another novelty is distribution of agro-cards. Chkheidze declares that 90 million lari is envisaged to spent this year for the program, at that, 50 million lari is budgetary allocation, while 15 million lari will be provided by Rural and Agriculture Development Fund . The remained sum will be funded from own funds of the Agency. The Agency has up to 10 subsidiaries, and we plan privatization of their assets in near future, directing the gained revenue for financing of the mentioned program, Chkheidze declares. Regarding "Cartu" fund, Chkheidze notes that financing "will continue, but funding of such projects is not its (Fund's) function". "Funding of such projects should be implemented by the state budget", he added.
