General Motors Co. said an auction house in Scottsdale, Ariz., will sell rights to the first 2014 retail and limited-edition Chevrolet Camaros.

GM said the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company would sell rights to the first 2014 COPO Camaros and the first 2014 Camaro Z/28 retail line cars.

GM said the rights to buy the COPO Camaro carrying serial No. 1 will be auctioned Friday night. The company has plans to build only 69 of the COPO Camaro muscle cars.

Rights to buy the production Camaro Z/28 with vehicle identification number 0001 will also be auctioned off, GM said. That auction will take place Saturday evening, Jan. 18.

Bids for the rights to the first off the assembly line can be submitted in person or online at barrett-jackson.com.

Proceeds from the COPO Camaro sale will be given to the Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans. Funds earned with the retail Camaro sale will be donated to Cornerstone Schools in Detroit.
