Sept. 09--Three of the biggest names in Country Dance Hall Music will take the Leo J. Welder Center stage Thursday.

The performance is the second part of the three-part Bluebonnet Charity Concert Series.

"It not only benefits the Bluebonnet Youth Ranch but also the Lions Club, Theatre Victoria and the Welder Center," Claud Jacobs, executive director of the Bluebonnet Youth Ranch, said.

Each organization, he said, contributes to the varied entertainment in the community and provides necessary services for its members.

For instance, he said, the Bluebonnet Youth Ranch helps dependent and neglected children.

He is excited to present The Survivors, made up of Curtis Potter, Tony Booth and Darrell McCall, as the second set of performers.

"They're really unique in that they are icons of the old country dance hall music." Jacobs said. "It's old traditional country music that was played in dance halls for years and years."

People might be familiar with the performers because they've been around for about 40 years, he said.

"The three called ourselves The Survivors because we've made it through the new iterations of country music, and we're still kicking," Booth, who performs vocals and plays the guitar, said.

They'll perform their own set of original music, as well as country classics that longtime fans would remember, Booth said. He described their musical style as similar to Ray Price, with all of the artists bringing their own styles to the show.

"A lot of the stuff we do is cover songs from the past and some original stuff with a classic country theme," the singer said.
