FEARRINGTON VILLAGE, NC -- (Marketwired) -- 09/09/13 -- The Fearrington House Restaurant has been named one of 32 Five-Star Restaurants in the U.S. by Forbes Travel Guide in its inaugural mid-year update to the official 2013 Star Rating, it was announced today. It is the first five-star rating for the Restaurant, putting it on the same exclusive list as sister property The Fearrington House Inn, an elegant country resort that has earned five-star recognition for the past 14 consecutive years.
The Forbes Five Star award is the latest achievement for the restaurant's executive chef, Colin Bedford, whose inventive, sophisticated menus are an interplay of the legendary culinary traditions of the American South, local ingredients, and his own English roots. Under Chef Bedford's tutelage, Fearrington House Restaurant has consistently received critical acclaim, including being named one of the top hotel food destinations in the world by Condé Nast Traveler and earning the title Grand Chef Relais & Chateaux for Chef Bedford, making him one of only 21 Grands Chefs in the U.S.
"We are all thrilled to receive Forbes' top award this year," said Chef Bedford. "It's a testament to the entire Fearrington team and the collaborative effort that allows us to create unique and memorable dining experiences for our guests."
"A Five-Star Award for the Restaurant has been a goal for several years," said Fearrington Proprietor R.B. Fitch. "The entire team at Fearrington House has consistently proven itself as providing unparalleled experiences for our guests, and needless to say, I'm extremely proud of them. It's gratifying to know that this award now distinguishes Fearrington as one of only two Inns in the U.S. to have a total of 20 AAA Diamonds and Five-Star Awards by Forbes for both food and lodging."
"Our Star Ratings recognize the finest hotels, restaurants and spas in the world. These ratings serve as guideposts for consumers seeking exceptional travel experiences, and our primary mission is to serve the consumer," said Michael Cascone, President of Forbes Travel Guide. "We're proud to be associated with the new additions to our global list."
