THE art of script-writing and directing a movie have proved elementary for one budding Helston film-maker.
At only 15, Chris Ivill has created his own version of Sherlock Holmes, telling the tale of the young sleuth attending Helston Community College in modern times, which he plans to enter in the young film-maker category of the Cornwall Film Festival in Newquay.
He enlisted fellow students at the college to star as actors, extras and help with production.
His dog Molly also stars as the detectie's pet.
He said: I started writing it in May 2012 and we started shooting it in March. It's been hard because we only manage to get together for an hour on Fridays.
I've always watched films and always wanted to know how it's done.
What inspired me to do a story of Sherlock Holmes was watching the BBC version with Benedict Cumberbatch.
He said he had watched the recent Young Sherlock Holmes shows and read many of the original books by Arthur Conan Doyle.
As well as writing, directing, filming and editing, Chris cast himself in the role of villain Moriarty.
The famous detective is played by Josh Watson and Watson by Will Barnes.
Chris also thanked his parents Stephen and Wendy Ivill, adding: My mum and dad have been a great help, driving people around. My mum has been my location manager.
The film has been shot at Helston College, Helston railway and around the town. I also want to thank the railway, they were really helpful.
It has a great vintage feel with the station and the lampposts. It's been a stressful journey but brilliant.
Chris is now tasked with finishing the editing of his film, cutting it down to 45 minutes, and wants to hold a premier at Helston College.
Back at school this week, Chris is focusing on his GCSEs ahead of taking them next year but said he also wants to create more short films.
