The main tasks of the directorate are development, updating and application of a clear policy for information technology in CSB, which in turn serves government entities, the development and application of procedures and standards to ensure quality assurance, security and confidentiality of the information, database management, determination of the absorptive capacity and development of computer systems to support and achieve the goals of CSB, promote CSB plans to transform procedures electronically by providing necessary technical support.
The directorate is divided into Computer. users support section, , Development. application information technology section, Application & database administration section, Information and indicators section, Computer. network & system administration section and Information security & quality assurance section.
The role of Computer. users support section is to communicate with government entities to know the future requirements and then prepare plans to achieve these requirements with respect to the field of Information Technology, provides all technical support services to all government entities such as networks, internet , e-mail, data security , HR system, receive and classify all problems reported by users using the HR system, training of government entities on the Bureau's electronic systems, finally testing the adjustment made in the systems before activating it.
Development. application information technology section develops programs and electronic systems related to HR, employee performance evaluation, training, payroll and employee services for all ministries and the government entities.
The section also updates all software and electronic systems to comply with the new civil service legislation, develop application to support the Bureau directorate to facilitate their work and to increase productivity, upgrading the CSB services provided through e-government portal and working on continuous updating of programs and study the feasibility of using new technologies to raise the efficiency of human resource management in the civil service
Application & database administration section is responsible of managing the electronic system's database in CSB, backup copies of government databases on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, maintaining the governmental applications and operating systems, negotiate and manage agreements between the CSB and major computer companies (
Information and indicators section role is receiving the requests from government entities related to reports, provision of information and statistics for all governmental and non-governmental organizations, information and statistics analysis for the preparation of studies and indicators, and managing the Business Intelligence system in order to provide an easy-to-use interface to decision-makers in government entities.
Computer. network & system administration section is responsible of the daily backup of the work of the CSB employees, installation of software and applications, provides support and assistance to employees, organization of working groups, creation of new users, as well as the support service related to the network.
The information security & quality assurance section responsibilities is to ensure the quality & accuracy of information in the electronic systems, application of international standards for quality computer systems, and the development of confidential information security policy and making sure it is in place.
