SENER, which is a HEGAN cluster member, has successfully operated in the aerospace industry for over 45 years and nowadays the company offers, in Space, engineering and manufacturing services in three areas: mechatronics; guided, navigation and control (GNC) systems and optical systems. In Aeronautics, SENER has capabilities in tooling manufacturing, in engineering and turnkey supply of manufacturing cells, as well as in research on process engineering and product development.
Among the reference projects we can highlight, in Aeronautics, the production systems for wing stringer manufacturing and for horizontal tailplane assembly in the airbus A350XWB as well as the stations 70 and 71 of the horizontal tailplane for the same aircraft and the Open Air Test Bench (OATB) for the TP400 engine, which propels the military transport aircraft A400M.
In this regard, as far as turnkey projects are concerned, SENER specializes in automation of structural assembly processes and part production and has acquired substantial know-how in precise handling and positioning of large composite structures. In the aforementioned Augusta Bell 212 (AB212) program, the work carried out by SENER includes the integration of new avionics and communication equipment, the update of the flight and navigation systems to current standards and the incorporation of new applications for maritime surveillance.
In Space, it stands out SENER's work in precision mechanisms, such as the development carried out in the high-gain antenna pointing mechanism for the Curiosity rover, which is currently in use on Mars as part of the Mars Science laboratory
In this same program, SENER has designed, manufactured and tested the deployable sunshield whose mission is to preserve the low temperature of the instruments and to ensure thermal stability of the optical elements. Also in this field, the company will show at Aerotrends its latest developments in attitude and orbit control systems (AOCS), for example in three ESA programs in which SENER acts as prime contractor: the Herschel and Planck scientific satellites, where SENER has been prime contractor of the AOCS system, and the Proba 3 formation flying mission, leaded by SENER.
Lastly, SENER will offer information regarding intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) projects such as the optical instrument of the Spanish Earth observation satellite, SEOSAT/Ingenio, or the image processing unit IHU/IPU.
