Preston Institute of Nano Science and Technology (PINSAT) Preston University, Islamabad and National Centre for Nano Science and Technology (NCNST), Beijing, China inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for scientific and academic cooperation.
The MOU was signed at a simple but impressive signing ceremony held at the Islamabad Campus of Preston University. Prof. Chen Wang, Director NCNST, China signed the MoU on behalf of NCNST and Prof. Dr. N.M. Butt, Chairman PINSAT, Preston University signed the MoU on behalf of PINSAT. Dr. Abdul Basit, Chancellor Preston University and the senior management and faculty of the university were also present on the occasion.
The MoU emphasizes the object of furthering scientific and educational cooperation between National Centre for Nano Science and Technology (NCNST), China and Preston Institute of Nano Science and Technology, Preston University, Islamabad, Pakistan. Some other vital areas of cooperation that the MoU accentuates are: (1) the signatories, operating within their respective sphere of competence, will promote and support cooperation between scientists for carrying out joint teaching and R and D activities. (2) NCNST, as mutually agreed, will extend all possible cooperation in making available laboratory facilities in fields related to nanotechnology to the students and faculty of PINSAT. (3) NCNST and PINSAT will cooperate in arranging joint seminars, conferences workshops and undertake exchange of literature pertinent to the interest of the two institutions. (4) The MoU also stipulates that both NCNST and PINSAT will extend every possible help to each other in designing and developing teaching courses and practical for schools, colleges and university students.
In his brief remarks on the occasion, Prof. Chen Wang, Director NCNST, China said that nanotechnology is the latest invention in the field of science and engineering and future of scientific and industrial development of any country would depend on this very important technology. Talking about the scientific and academic cooperation between NCNST and PINSAT-Preston University, he said it would provide both institutions an excellent opportunity to mutually benefit from each others experience. The students and faculty of PINSAT would particularly benefit from this cooperation between the two institutions, he maintained.
In his address, Dr. Abdul Basit, Chancellor Preston University at the outset said that the all-weather friendship between China and Pakistan is exemplary. It is time-tested and has no parallel in the contemporary history of mutual friendship between nations, he maintained. About the accord for cooperation signed between NCNST, China and PINSAT-Preston University, Pakistan. Dr. Basit said that it is an excellent initiative and it would go a long way in building a strong and mutually beneficial relationship between the two institutions.
Earlier, speaking on the occasion Prof. Dr. N.M. Butt, Chairman PINSAT extended a warm welcome to Prof. Chen Wang, Director NCNST, Beijing,China to Preston University. Talking about nanoscience and technology he said that it is the technology of the future and successful scientific, industrial and economic development of any nation would largely depend on the promotion of this high profile technology. He expressed his confidence that the accord for mutual cooperation inked between NCNST and PINSAT will augur well for both institutions and its ultimate beneficiaries.
