Digisoft.tv, a global provider of HTML5 set-top box (STB) software introduced its new Virtual STB today. A pure software product which brings all the services of a hybrid set-top box to connected TVs, the Virtual STB is set to revolutionise the smart TV market by instantly removing all the CAPEX costs traditionally associated with the technology.

Currently 15% of homes with cable coverage have a Smart TV and the figure is expected to reach more than 25% by 2016. Given this trend, Digisoft believes it's right to focus on commercially adept Smart TV manufacturers who have endorsed HTML5 and CE-HTML as open development standards.
