"The Czech Republic is a world leader in the field of nanotechnology, which has an impact on numerous industrial sectors and places major demands on research. Czech nanotechnology firms are highly respected in the Chinese market," said Marian Piecha, CEO of CzechInvest.
Representatives of CzechInvest, the Technical University of Liberec, Brno University of Technology and the Czech nanotechnology firms NAFIGATE Corporation, Elmarco, ACT Nami and Noen, took part in Chenango 2013, which was held from 24 to 27 September in Suzhou, Jiangsu province. Over the course of the Forum, CzechInvest and NAFIGATE Corporation conducted a seminar entitled Nanosolutions for Green Economy - Investment Opportunity in China.
"China offers tremendous space for introducing new high-tech products to the market," said Ladislav Mares, chairman of the board of directors of NAFIGATE Corporation. "This technology mission therefore has major significance for supporting Czech exports to the Chinese market. Presentation of the potential of Czech nanotechnologies is also a signal for Chinese investors."
A significant milestone in the technological cooperation between the two countries was laid by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic and the Suzhou Industrial Park Administrative Committee. The memorandum, which was initiated by Nafigate Corporation, aims to facilitate the cooperation between Czech and Chinese firms with a high technological profile. The Act of signing was attended by H. E. Mr. Libor Secka, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to China, and representatives of CzechInvest.
On 27 September, the Czech delegates travelled to Beijing to hold a similar nano-seminar in the country's capital and discuss with Chinese invitees the specific topic of using nanotechnologies in water treatment and other green technologies. The seminar, held on the premises of the Czech Embassy, was attended by tens of representatives from state institutions, stated-owned and private companies.
Mrs. Klara Jurcova, Economic Counsellor of the Embassy, confirmed that this was the fifth event of this kind organized at the Embassy, which was once again met with great enthusiasm and interest from the Chinese side. This all illustrates the good timing and extraordinary potential that nanotechnology brings. She said that she was delighted that the Embassy was able to cooperate with Czech entrepreneurs on Chinese market and with the financial support of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was able to prepare a suitable environment for specific business collaboration within the framework of economic diplomacy.
It is not disputed that the technology mission and the signing of the Memorandum brought tangible opportunities of investment to innovative technologies and applications developed in the Czech Republic.
