Bring on the musical: Broadway series tickets on sale

Sept. 22--All but one of the Plaza Theatre's El Paso Electric-sponsored 2013-2014 Broadway series shows are now on sale to the public.

That one, of course, is the Tony Award-winning musical "Jersey Boys," a blockbuster headed to the theater next summer.

But if you just can't wait to get your show tunes on, here's a rundown of what's coming for this year's Broadway in El Paso series:

-- Straight No Chaser, the showy a cappella group, back by popular demand, brings its "Under the Influence" tour to the theater at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27.

Tickets cost $35 and $45, plus service charges.

-- "Million Dollar Quartet," a musical based on a real musical meeting of the minds among Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins, will be performed at 7 p.m. Nov. 3.

Tickets: $35 and $60; $31.50 and $54 for military, seniors and educators.

-- "American Idiot," the musical version of the 2004 Green Day punk rock opera album of the same name, comes to the Plaza at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 9.

Tickets: $35, $60; $31.50 and $54 for military, seniors and educators.

-- "Bring It On: The Musical," based on the 2000 cheerleading movie, stops at the Plaza at 7:30 p.m. March 17.

Tickets: $35, $60; $31.50 and $54 for military, seniors and educators.

-- "Rock of Ages," a jukebox musical built around '80s rock anthems, lands at 7:30 p.m. April 22.

Tickets: $35, $60; $31.50, $54 for military, seniors and educators.

Tickets, plus fees, are available at the box office and through Ticketmaster outlets, and 800-745-3000.

"Jersey Boys," which tells the story of Frank Valli and the Four Seasons, is being made into a movie directed by Clint Eastwood.

The stage show will come to the Plaza for five performances May 28-June 1.
