Sept. 21--UNC School of the Arts will be well-represented on network and cable TV shows this fall.
One of the highest profile roles belongs to Neal Bledsoe, a 2005 alumnus of the School of Drama, who will be playing one of the assistants to a hardnosed police detective in "Ironside," NBC's remake of the classic crime drama. Bledsoe plays Teddy, who grew up in a wealthy family but rebelled by becoming a cop instead of going into a more profitable line of work.
Bridget Regan (Drama, 2004) returns to "Beauty and the Beast" on CW as the ex-fiancee of Vincent, the male lead.
Matt Lauria (Drama, 2007) and Tim Guinee (Drama, 1985) reprise their roles in new seasons of NBC's "Parenthood" and "Revolution," respectively.
Lauria had been part of a story arc that was meant to end last season, but he impressed the show's producers and is coming back.
Guinee also appears in the AMC Western "Hell on Wheels," which also has Jennifer Ferrin (Drama, 2003) in a prominent role.
Anna Camp (Drama, 2004) has a guest spot and potential recurring role in the new season of NBC's "How I Met Your Mother."
In midseason, Anna Wood (Drama, 2004, and a Mount Airy native) will play the female lead in "Reckless" on CBS, a drama set in Charleston, S.C. She will play Jamie Sawyer, a Chicago attorney who moves to the South where she butts heads with a charming courtroom rival. And Ben Carbo (Drama, 2012) has a supporting role in CW's sci-fi drama "Star-Crossed," about the romance between a human girl and an alien boy.
On cable, Jenn Lyon (Drama, 2003), who appeared last season in "Justified," will appear in "Saint George" on FX, a forthcoming comedy with George Lopez as a divorced dad and entrepreneur. She will play his demanding ex-wife.
And alumni and interns are involved behind-the-scenes on AMC's "The Walking Dead," which returns in October, with two crew members -- Brittni Moore (Film, 2012), who will work on cameras, and Emma Van Halsema (Film, 2012), who will be in the props department -- and seven interns working on everything from costumes to sound.
