The Young Musical Theatre Company's production of Fame: The Musical at Strode Theatre, in Street, has been highly praised.
The production, which included 77 young people from Street, Glastonbury, Bridgwater, Wells, Shepton Mallet and Taunton received standing ovations.
The Somerset Fellowship of Drama adjudicator Douglas Craig wrote "from the beginning to the end there was a controlled dynamism rarely seem in amateur productions".
He characterised the performances as "dazzling".
The company produced the show in under eight weeks and Douglas Craig characterised it as an "outstanding piece of theatre" with an extremely high level of professionalism.
The dancing, choreographed by Emma Boddy was particularly effective, slick, well executed and professional.
The show was led musically by 18-year-old Luke Holman who produced an unrivalled wall of sound.
"The vocal expertise shown by the cast was impressive and the sounds produced from the stage and pit rank with the best in the area," said Douglas Craig.
Cy Boddy, the show director, said: "I have been so proud of their achievement as a theatre company and in eight weeks they produced a show to rival most adult companies."
The Young Musical Theatre Company will be auditioning in late October/early November for their next production High School Musical which will be shown in April 2014 followed by auditions in May 2014 for those aged 16 and over for their production of the critically- acclaimedRent.
