IMTV chooses ADB software and services for BIGTV
16th September 2013 - Geneva, Switzerland: Advanced Digital Broadcast (ADB), a leading supplier of advanced solutions for the connected home, today announced that IMTV, the newest entrant in the Indonesian pay-TV market, has selected ADB's software and services to support BIGTV, a premium direct-to-home (DTH) satellite service launched earlier this month.
ADB is providing its set-top box software, head-end systems and associated services to support IMTV's HD STBs with the fast, intuitive ADBCarboTM user interface including standard features such as EPG, parental control, and favourites list. Other advanced features including DVR support and advertising will also be offered in the future. For the launch, ADB has developed a Football Application to complement live broadcasts on two HD football channels and will develop further applications in the future to enhance IMTV's service.
BIGTV will reach the entire Indonesian population, over 230 million people. "We are aiming to secure millions of subscribers within five years," said Felix Ali Chendra, CEO of BIGTV. "To provide the premium entertainment service in the country and to serve this huge market, we chose ADB's software and user experience. With this co-operation ADB will make BIGTV the leader in Asia for DTH technology with interactive capability in the STB and we strongly believe that an intuitive user interface and specialised applications will be key in enticing Indonesian households. Taking this football application for example, it is just the perfect match to our programming for the people in Indonesia, who are great football fans".
