Semiconductor networking products developer Mindspeed Technologies has launched a laser driver, limiting amplifier and receiver optical sub-assemblies (Rosas) that enable multi-kilometre transmission of broadcast video signals over single mode optical fibre. The M07860 laser driver, M07840 limiting amplifier, M07830 PIN Rosa and M07835 APD Rosa are Smpte 297-2006 compliant, supporting serial digital interface (SDI) pathological patterns at data rates from 50Mbps to 3Gbps over single mode fibre. The M07860 incorporates Mindspeed's Eye-Minder dual digital closed loop technology that compensates real time for laser aging and temperature effects. The M07840 limiting amplifier offers very low input sensitivity, on chip DACs. Mindspeed will be showcasing its portfolio of video transport offerings at IBC 2013, from 13-17 September at the RAI Center in Amsterdam. The devices are in production now and are packaged as follows: M07860 in 5x5 millimetre (mm) quad-flat no-leads (QFN), M07840 in 3x3 mm QFN and the M07830 and M07835 Rosas in industry standard LC connector. Module reference designs are also available now.
