Sept. 10--The Mont Alto Film Project will begin principal photography on the supernatural thriller "Ghosting" Saturday on the Penn State Mont Alto Campus.

"Ghosting" will be filming in Gettysburg, Littlestown, Fairfield, Taneytown, Md., and the Mont Alto/Chambersburg area, and includes a number of iconic local businesses, such as The Lincoln Diner, The Ragged Edge Coffee House and Beegle Chiropractic in Gettysburg.

This is the second feature-length independent film produced by the Mont Alto Film Project, a two-year practicum in film production originating on the Penn State Mont Alto campus. The project involves Penn State students in every step of film production from the writing of the screenplay through post-production.

The project is producing "Ghosting" (ghostingmovie.com), a supernatural thriller about a first-generation college student from a rough, blue-collar background, who works part-time at a dying film processing lab, where the image of a man in a weathered fedora begins appearing in photographs originating from different people in different parts of the country. Matt's life is thrown off kilter when he discovers that he is the only one who can see the man in the photos. Fearing he has inherited his mother's schizophrenia, Matt joins forces with his best friend and his crush to unravel the mystery of the man in the photos, a quest that ultimately leads them into darkness.

The Mont Alto Film Project's first feature film was Two Days Back

(twodaysback.com), which won Best Picture in the sci-fi/horror category at the Bare Bones International Film Festival, premiered at the Capital Theatre in Chambersburg, and was picked up for international distribution. Students who participated in the first project have gone on to work for HBO and on other film productions, such as local favorite John Putch's Route 30 III, which just wrapped filming in the area.

The film will be released in 2014.
