JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE tells radio hosts Jim & Kim that he wouldn't want to play a superhero in a movie, but would enjoy a chance to play his favorite villain.,Voight traded money for part,It was Jon Voight's portrayal of male prostitute Joe Buck in the 1969 film "Midnight Cowboy" that put him on the path to becoming an acting legend. Now, he says he was paid a pittance for the part.

Jon says that he wanted the role so badly he told his agent, "I said, 'Tell them I'll do this part for nothing.'" The actor says to his surprise, "they took me at my word and they gave me minimum for 'Midnight Cowboy.'"

Jon spoke this week in New York as he was promoting his film "Getaway" co-starring Ethan Hawke and Selena Gomez that opened Aug. 30 and "Ray Donovan," the Showtime series he appears in opposite Liev Schreiber.

The Oscar- and Emmy-winning actor says the studio United Artists "even sent me a $14.73 coffee shop charge," for meals his last day of shooting for the film in Texas. Jon also says he persuaded co- star Dustin Hoffman to try out for the role of Enrico "Ratso" Rizzo after the two became friends doing an off-Broadway show and that they auditioned for the movie together.

Looking back, Jon says, "It was the worst." But he says he had no regrets. "I knew what it meant. It was going to give me a career, and I was right."

Sandra Bullock says her training as a dancer and carrying around her 40-pound 3-year-old helped her to get into top shape to play an astronaut drifting through space in "Gravity."

Sandra plays a scientist stranded hundreds of miles above Earth with a wise-cracking astronaut George Clooney when debris destroys their space shuttle. Sandra said this week before the film's world premiere at the Venice Film Festival that her character had given up on life because of a tragedy, and she wanted to express the physical changes brought by enormous loss.

Sandra said "I wanted her to lose everything feminine or maternal."

George deftly deferred a question over possible U.S. intervention in Syria, saying "I actually thought you would ask me about Ben Affleck playing Batman. But no, it's Syria."

-- Associated Press,I recently saw the movie "American Beauty" again and was so impressed by the actor who played the young next- door neighbor, but he seems to have disappeared. Is he still acting? -- N.K.

Wes Bentley, who was a standout in that film, has continued to act: He was in "The Hunger Games" and is in the current "Lovelace," among others. He's open about the fact that he relapsed into a heroin addiction, which ended his first marriage and limited his acting, but he's been straight for several years now and has a busy schedule. He's also set to shoot a pilot for HBO, "Open," developed by the creator of "Glee," Ryan Murphy; and to co-star with Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain and Matthew McConaughey in the sci-fi film "Interstellar," directed by Christopher Nolan, director of "The Dark Knight Rises."

Lindsay Lohan failed to appear this week at the Venice Film Festival, where she was expected to promote the erotic thriller ''Canyons."

Director Paul Schrader told a news conference that he was ''a free man," adding: "For the last 16 months I've been hostage, by (my) own choosing, to a very talented but unpredictable actress."

Neither Paul nor LiLo's publicist gave a reason for the last- minute cancellation.

LiLo plays an L.A. movie producer who, with her partner, played by adult movie actor James Deen, engages in erotic encounters with couples found on the Internet. The movie premieres in competition Aug. 30.

Paul said LiLo ''stepped up very hard" for the role.
