All Set to Strike the Right Note

August 7, 2013

A LLANELLI charity choir plans to close the summer with a bang -- playing its debut shows at the town's new theatre.

The 100 Voices Charity Variety Performance sees the mixed voice choir taking to the stage at Ffwrnes alongside a bundle of south Wales talent.

On Friday August 30 and Saturday August 31, 100 Voices will feature as part of a bill of acts including solo singers, dance troupes, body-poppers, magicians, stand-up comics, and a military band.

Funds from the shows will be donated to benefit Ty Bryngwyn Hospice and the Welsh Guards Benevolent Fund.

Organiser Dale Francis said: 100 voices is launching its first of many charity evenings with a bang.

West End stars, along with TV and radio stars will come together for what is the biggest variety performance guaranteed.

Expanding as a choir, it is hoped that even more causes can be helped, in particular smaller charities in the Llanelli area.

Both cancer research and armed forces charities have special significance for choir founder Mr Francis.

The 27-year-old, who is also performing at the shows, lost his mum to liver cancer and his soldier brother while on duty in Iraq.

The choir has become a way of venting that grief, at the same time as raising money for good causes.

While 100 Voices will be showcasing its choral take on songs from the shows, films, and a little bit of rock, there are also some real up and coming stars on the bill.

The whole feel of variety is utilised, from the foyer where you''ll have close up magic, to more peaceful piano playing at the upstairs bar, Mr Francis said.

Welsh unsigned stand up award-winner, Simon Emanuel will be ensuring that there's plenty of laughs to be had.

The stand up comic has had a wealth of experience entertaining crowds across the UK and Europe.

Also strutting her stuff on the boards will be musical comedy drag act CC Swan.

Another keen supporter of charities, the Swansea performer's show promises to be a mixture of superb live vocals, hilarious comedy, and razor-sharp wit.

And Mr Francis promised that the evening would end in a bang -- literally.

Tickets cost Pounds 10 each and each evening's show starts at 7.30pm.

It''s great value for money and every detail has been perfected to make it the most professional show in town, Mr Francis said.

? Performing at the events will be: Compere Hannah Elcock; Comedian Tommy G; Magician Stefan Pedric; Lori's Dance School; Andrew Leigh Harries; Singer Hannah Davies; CC Swan; Llanelli Youth Theatre; Llanelli Stage Company; D'Silver; 100 Voices; Phillip Arran; and Comedian Simon Emanuel
