Kravis Center

2013-14 schedule

The Kravis Center announced its 2013-14 schedule last week. Here are some highlights we are looking forward to. For more information on the shows, visit Tickets go on sale to the public on Sept. 28 at 9 a.m.

High-stepping fun

Perhaps the most anticipated show of the season, from Nov. 29- Dec. 8, is the Radio City Christmas Spectacular Starring The Rockettes. It's the perfect way to get ready for the holidays, with a visit from Santa Claus and the big New York at Christmas scene.

Classical titans

One of the best discs released this year so far is violinist Joshua Bell conducting the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Orchestra in a round of Beethoven. So hopes are high for this pairing on March 16, one of many classical delights on the Kravis calendar.

Film festival

This is the ninth go-round for the African-American Film Festival, which explores how Hollywood treats race. This year's theme is Harlem Rides the Range: Blacks on the Frontier. The movies are: Feb. 27, "Harlem Rides the Range" (1939); March 6, "Buck and the Preacher" (1972); March 13, "Posse" (1993).

TV on stage

On Oct. 5, America's Got Talent Live brings the spirit of the NBC show to the stage, with the Million Dollar Winner and other runners- up, as well as favorites of fans.

A tap master

Savion Glover's new show "STePz," here on Nov. 7, stars the tap master and his dance troupe as they show how jazz and melody influences movement. And how you can have a great time doing it -- and watching it, as well.

Blues brothers

Buddy Guy proves that a legend never gets old. Jonny Lang still seems like the kid. But the master and mentor should put on a storming show for blues and soul fans on Nov. 20.

Merry 'Chris'-mas!

The Chris Isaak Holiday Show could be genuine and heartfelt, or a little sly and sexy, and hopefully both, as the guitarist-crooner of "Wicked Game" and "Baby Did A Bad, Bad Thing" comes to town five days before Christmas, on Dec. 20.
