IRVINE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/30/13 -- SK3 Group, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: SKTO) ("the Company") applauds the announcement today from the US Department of Justice ("DOJ") that it will exercise its enforcement powers under the Controlled Substances Act, and its criminal investigation and enforcement powers and its civil enforcement powers, with respect to those states where marijuana activity is being regulated by state authorities with constraint to certain well thought out principles.

and the complete text of the specific memorandum issued to prosecutors can be found here:

This announcement follows on the heels of President Obama announcing this past December that it does not make sense for the federal government to go after recreational drug users in a state that has legalized recreational use of small amounts of marijuana, and after numerous survey results in the past six months showing that a majority of the American public favors legalization of use in some form. It comes within weeks of the CNN broadcast of Dr. Sanjay Gupta's enlightening documentary on the same subject.

Under the new DOJ approach, the size of the "marijuana operation" relating to marijuana will no longer be determinative, by itself, of a government decision to investigate or prosecute, but rather just one factor to consider along with among other things whether a "marijuana operation" is in compliance with a strong and effective state regulatory system.

"This sea change in approach reflects true leadership by the DOJ and bodes well for the growth of the medical marijuana industry in California and elsewhere," said Company Chairman Kevin Allyn. "Now, if they obey the state regulatory requirements, collectives, for their patients, can focus on acquiring the quality products they need to maintain their patients' quality of life without the fear of federal intervention that used characterize their business life. We salute the Obama administration in this forward and practical approach to one of the fastest growing regulated businesses in the United States."
