Aug. 29--AMMAN -- Jordanian film "Line of Sight" written and directed by Aseel Mansour will be available for distributors and buyers at the 70th Venice International Film Festival, according to a statement issued Tuesday.
The film is one of 10 features that were screened at the ninth Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) last year "to significant acclaim" and will be available at the Venice Film Market for "distributors, buyers, sellers, agents and film promotion agencies from around the world".
According to a statement posted on DIFF's official website, the film will be presented through the Digital Video Library at the Italian festival in continuation of the cooperation between the two international festivals.
"The prestigious Venice film festival... is a crucial opportunity for Arab filmmakers to showcase their work on an international stage," the DIFF statement said.
The festival opens on Wednesday and continues until September 7.
Starring Nadia Odeh and Khaled Al Ghwairi, "Line of Sight" follows the story of Laila, a young woman living in a disappointing marriage with a husband who is constantly absent.
"When a car thief tries to steal her car, she attempts to stop him, but time seems to freeze," according to the film's official synopsis.
"The thief plays over the circumstances that drove him to Laila's in the first place, and makes up his mind: his life or Laila's, which sets them up to face some very strange decisions."
The 84-minute thriller competed for the Muhr Arab Feature awards at the ninth DIFF late last year and had its local debut at the 19th Franco-Arab Film Festival in June this year.
