Giant Tiger is thrilled to announce a donation of $40,000 to the Canadian Red Cross Lac-Megantic Support fund.
This donation is possible thanks to the generous contributions made during our Round Up Campaign at participating Quebec stores, combined with the wonderful support and contributions from our store Owners, Managers and Home Office team. The Round Up Campaign ran from July 16 to August 11, 2013.
"Giant Tiger is very much committed to the communities we serve" offers Greg Farrell, President and COO of Giant Tiger Stores Limited. We are thankful to be a member of communities who care so deeply for one another. We believe that these funds will go a long way in not only helping the town of Lac-Megantic rebuild but will also be beneficial in helping the citizens heal".
To date businesses and private citizens have contributed $9,7 million to assist the Lac-Megantic community. The Red Cross has developed an assistance program for those affected by the disaster. This assistance will help vulnerable individuals to get back on their feet and try to put their lives back together.
Giant Tiger Stores Limited is committed to corporate stewardship and supporting its surrounding communities. Through various programs and outreach initiatives Giant Tiger donates more than $2 million dollars annually to more than 700 associations and charities across Canada.
