Hispanic Heritage Month Kicks Off with Festival del Sabor

TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ -- Tampa Hispanic Heritage, Inc.'s official kick-off celebration will take place at CENTRO Tampa's 8th annual Festival del SABOR to be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Centennial Park in historic Ybor City from Noon until 5:00 p.m.. The event will mark THHI's 34th anniversary, whose sole objective is to preserve and promote Hispanic culture within Tampa Bay. This event will also mark CENTRO Tampa's 8th anniversary as the leading Spanish-language newspaper in the area.

The event's goal is to showcase the SABOR or Flavor of Tampa Bay's Hispanic culture through food, music, and art. Festival del SABOR will once again feature a recipe contest to find Tampa Bay's Best "Arroz con Pollo." Amateur cooks are encouraged to participate in order to win up to $750 in prizes. Prizes will be awarded for Best Recipe and Most Creative Recipe.

This is a family oriented event that engages the community at large to enjoy a day of fun for the entire family. The children's area will be sponsored again by MOSI (Museum of Science and Industries). The stage is set to provide local talent an opportunity to perform as in the case of "Orquesta Infinidad" and "Kike Barrios." The selection of the 2013 Tampa Hispanic Heritage Cultural Ambassador will also take place during the popular kick-off celebration and is sponsored one more time by Florida Blue.

The Tampa Hispanic Heritage official kick-off at CENTRO's Festival del SABOR will be hosted by the Ybor City Saturday Market and co-produced by Coda Sound USA. The event is sponsored by McDonald's, Care Plus and CAC Florida Medical Center with the co-sponsorship of Verizon FIOS, Suncoast Federal Credit Union, metroPCS, Mercedes Benz of Tampa Bay, and Moffitt Cancer Center.
