SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/26/13 --
Today, at VMworld® 2013, Puppet Labs, a leading provider of IT automation software for system administrators, announced Puppet Labs' technologies is used for the configuration management of VMware vCloud® Hybrid Service™, to deliver the agility, scalability and reliability required by enterprise customers. VMware vCloud Hybrid Service, which is announcing general availability today, is the first enterprise-class, infrastructure-as-a-service public cloud that is completely compatible with VMware-virtualized data centers. Puppet Labs will demonstrate deploying virtual infrastructure with Puppet Enterprise and migrating workloads to VMware vCloud Hybrid Service in booth number 2241 at VMworld® 2013.
"The automation framework of VMware vCloud® Hybrid Service™ was designed around 'DevOps' principles, and we were looking for a solution that would bring that approach to configuration management as part of cloud service provisioning," said Mathew Lodge, vice president, Cloud Services, VMware. "We are pleased to use Puppet Labs' technologies within VMware vCloud® Hybrid Service™."
As part of the $30 million investment and strategic partnership announced in January, Puppet Labs and VMware are collaborating on several product integrations with the joint mission of enabling customers to fully realize the benefits of virtualization and cloud computing in heterogeneous, multi-vendor IT environments.
Joint customers currently benefit from the integration of Puppet Enterprise with VMware vCloud Automation Center, the Puppet Enterprise content pack for VMware vCenter™ Log Insight™, and over 12 modules on the Puppet Forge to deploy VMware products, including VMware vSphere® and VMware vCenter™ Operations Manager™.
"Together, VMware and Puppet Labs give customers the agility and scalability they need to manage today's complex heterogeneous environments," said Luke Kanies, founder and CEO of Puppet Labs. "Puppet Labs powers some of the largest and most successful cloud service providers, and this partnership with VMware extends our offerings in cloud automation."
