Sony will unveil two quality-enhancing lenses for smartphones in the next few days, according to Japanese website Sonyalpharumors.com and the local press. The move is seen as a way of countering the dramatic fall in digital camera sales worldwide as phones come with better and better cameras. The lenses will work with iOS and Android operating systems and adapt to any smartphone model. Named the DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX10, the phone peripherals will look like the barrel shapped lenses found on the front of 35mm cameras and will communicate with the smartphone via Wi-Fi or NFC. They will deliver an image quality equivalent to mid-level digital SLR cameras today, according to Japanese press reports.
