Multichoice has introduced DStv Mobile and GOtv mobile to Uganda, East African Business Week reported. Subscribers will be able to access local TVs and DStv channels on their smartphones, laptops and tablets using portable mobile TV devices like the Walka 7, Drifta and iDrifta. To access the service, subscribers can choose from a mobile TV range of devices, including the Walka 7 (UGX 326,875), Drifta (UGX 183,050) and iDrifta (UGX 169,975). The Walka 7 is a portable TV complete with a seven inch screen. It boasts six hours of battery life and audio is delivered via two 1.5 watt speakers. The Drifta is a mobile TV decoder that receives mobile TV broadcast signals and relays them via Wi-Fi to a range of Wi-Fi capable devices such as laptops, PCs, tablets and smartphones. The device is compatible with certain Android, BlackBerry, iOS, and Symbian smartphones and tablets, as well as Windows and Mac computers. The iDrifta is a plug and play mobile TV broadcast decoder dedicated to iOS devices. It enhances the mobile TV viewing experience of consumers with Apple mobile devices, including iPads, iPods and iPhones. The iDrifta is compatible with the iPod 4th generation, iPhone 4/4S and iPad 1/2/3. To introduce consumers to mobile TV, a free range deal is available with three popular channels: NTV, Bukedde and WBS. The channels are accessible to anyone with a mobile TV device. Subscribers will be able to view NTV, Bukkede, WBS, Citizen, Sony MAX, Africa Magic (Family), Disney Junior, Nat Geo Wild, CNN, Channel O, Select Sports and Super Sport Blitz. As an added value to GOtv Plus subscribers, they are able to access one GOtv Mobile subscription at no additional fee.
