ENP Newswire - 21 August 2013
Release date- 16082013 - Cincinnati, OH - IGEL Technology, a global leader in thin client solutions, will be showcasing its VMware-ready hardware and software solutions at VMworld in San Francisco from August 25-29.
As a long-time VMware technology partner, IGEL looks forward to meeting with current users of VMware desktop virtualization products and those interested in incorporating VMware VDI components in their virtualization solutions.
IGEL Technology General Manager Jeff Kalberg is excited about the upcoming event. 'VMworld has become a major industry happening, and there are countless opportunities to connect with organizations using VMware desktop virtualization technology as well as those looking to adopt. IGEL thin clients operate seamlessly in a VMware View Horizon environment, offering the unique ability to operate as a zero client, or as a device capable of running as a session-based device. They represent an ideal, future-proof investment. Resellers looking for flexible, high-performance endpoints to incorporate into client solutions should consider IGEL for the same reasons.'
The soon-to-be-released UD10 24' integrated thin client with Smartcard reader and infrared touch screen will be on display for the first time in the IGEL booth. The new all-in-one unit, supported by IGEL Linux 5, Windows Embedded Standard 7 and our soon-to be-released Windows Embedded Standard 8 is an ideal solution for many computing environments, particularly retail.
Visitors to the booth will also have the opportunity to experience the IGEL UD3 and UD5 dual core thin clients released earlier this year. Significantly more powerful than their single-core predecessors, these new thin clients offer smooth multimedia delivery and improved user experience, thanks to use of advanced chipsets.
IGEL's unique, configure-it-and-forget-it Universal Management Suite (UMS) that accompanies all IGEL devices will be on display. This truly best-in-class management tool facilitates easy device configuration, rapid deployment, and hands-off control of as many end-points as an organization employs. 'The UMS is a core component of an IGEL solution,' says Kalberg. 'Our customers tell us that IGEL UMS is an incredibly easy-to-use, powerful management tool that sets IGEL apart from all other solutions on the market. They further tell us that the realized time-savings and added reduction in operating costs identify IGEL Technology as one of the best IT investments they've ever made.'
Converting PCs to fully-functioning thin clients with the IGEL Universal Desktop Converter (UDC) software is another hallmark of the IGEL approach to thin client technology. The IGEL team will bring some additional fun to VMworld with a contest allowing participants to guess the time it takes to completely convert an existing PC to an IGEL Technology thin client. Three lucky winners will receive a ROKU 3.
