Aug. 20--DURHAM -- The upcoming Broadway season at the Durham Performing Arts Center has added a new show to its season, with "Joseph and Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" coming to the stage May 13-18.

It replaces the previously announced show for the same week, "The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber."

The national tour of "Joseph and Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" stars Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young, and launches in March. Tickets for the show go on sale at noon Sept. 13.

"Joseph and Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" is a family musical about the trials and triumphs of Joseph, Israel's favorite son. It is a collaboration of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, blending pop, country and rock, according to a DPAC release. "Joseph and Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" is a retelling the Biblical story of Joseph, his 11 brothers and the coat of many colors, with songs including "Those Canaan Days," "Any Dream Will Do" and "Close Every Door."

Actors Young and DeGarmo are married and met when they shared the Broadway stage in the 2009 revival of "Hair." DeGarmo, who portrays the narrator, was a contestant on "American Idol" when she was 16. Her other Broadway shows include "9 to 5," "Brooklyn: The Musical" and "Hairspray." She was also on the television show "The Young and the Restless" and is a country singer. Young is a Grammy-nominated songwriter, was a contestant on "Idol" and also starred on Broadway.

The rest of the upcoming Broadway season at DPAC includes the return of Blue Man Group (Sept. 5-8) and Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" (Oct. 8-13), followed by "Ghost" (Nov. 12-17); Dr. Seuss' "How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical" (Dec. 3-8); "Once," (Jan. 21-26); "Book of Mormon" (Feb. 11-23); "Evita" (March 11-16); and "The Wizard of Oz" (April 8-13).
