SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ -- America's largest Hispanic Christian Organization, the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC), serving millions of evangelicals and over 40,000 member churches, has commissioned a year-long research project coordinated by Dr. Samuel Pagan, a leading Evangelical scholar and Professor of Hebrew Bible at Dar al-Kalima College in Bethlehem, to identify the singularities that distinguish and identify the Latino Evangelical community.

"This project is the logical result of the broad vision, serious commitment and missionary understanding of the NHCLC, which represents the vast majority of Latino Evangelical communities in the United States," said Pagan.
A group of more than 20 Latino scholars will conduct research on prioritized topics of relevance to this demographic including, but not limited to, immigration, politics, religion, education, multilingualism and multiculturalism.
"The Latino Evangelical community is growing in both numbers and influence in American society," said Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, president of the NHCLC. "This study will provide greater understanding into their lifestyle, faith and principles to assist our nation's leaders in comprehending what is of importance and value to this community."
The results of the study will be published in book form and released in both English and Spanish in 2015.
"This new book on Latino Evangelicals aims to become a necessary reference work for academic and university centers, church offices, government institutions and political parties in the country," Pagan said. "This will serve as a vital resource to public and private libraries in order to assist with the proper understanding of a community that every day becomes more prominent and important in the American society."
