Aug. 18--The Girl Singers return to Capitol Theatre Sept. 4-7 for a new show, "Broadway's Best."
Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 4-6 and 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Sept. 7. The singers are being brought to the Hub City by Aberdeen Community Theatre.
Audiences may remember The Girl Singers from performances at the Capitol in "Sirens of the '60s" in 2012 and "The Girl Singers of the Hit Parade" in 2009.
The show features the vocal talents of Colleen Raye, Debbie O'Keefe and Katie Gearty singing Broadway hits, including classics from "My Fair Lady," "Gypsy," "Oliver" and "West Side Story," as well as newer musicals, such as "Phantom of the Opera," "Les Miserables," "Wicked" and "Rent."
According to ACT, "The Girl Singers go from powerful ballad show stoppers to high-energy tunes from 'Grease,' 'Mamma Mia,' 'Cabaret' and 'Chicago: The Musical.' "
"Our patrons who enjoyed the previous productions by The Girl Singers will not want to miss 'Broadway's Best,' " ACT artistic/managing director Jim Walker said in a news release. "Whether you love the sentiment of the classic musicals or the excitement of the modern musicals, 'Broadway's Best' is sure to provide a great evening of entertainment for everyone and we're happy to have the girls returning to the Capitol Theatre."
