Although she's an Olympic gold swimmer, it might come as a surprise that Rebecca Adlington @BeckAdlington conquered her fear of swimming in the sea, off Palm Island, an idyllic Caribbean hideway. She tweeted how scary it had been, adding: Oh my god! I have just faced my fear and swam in the sea!!!! After 24 years I've just swam 1k in open water. Proud of myself for doing it! THE Hoff threw his support behind Nottingham Paralympian Richard Whitehead as he embarked on his challenge to run 40 marathons in 40 days.

The star, who'll be in the Theatre Royal panto this Christmas, tweeted through his account @ DavidHasselhoff: Go Richard! HOFF AND RUNNING! He is a true hero! As it says in Knight Rider One man can make a difference @ Marathonchamp #RichRuns.

THE latest Notts musician to sign a major label deal, following the likes of Jake Bugg, Dog Is Dead and Indiana, is Bramcote's Callum Burrows, aka Saint Raymond. The 18-year-old tweeted a collage of pics from his signing party at the Asylum Records label, part of the Atlantic Records stable and home to Cee Lo Green, Ed Sheeran and Rudimental.

He'd already released two EPs through chart-topper Gabrielle Aplin's label. She tweeted: Congratulations to my lavly @ Callum_SR! We signed him away from Never Fade to Atlantic Records yesterday!
