Cacique, the brand of cheeses, sausages and Hispanic-style cream, announced the
38 winners of the first fundraising program "Cacique and You Can Help Your UNO
School" during a reception held in the Octavio Paz UNO school, one of the seven
schools participating in the educational network United Neighborhood
The program was developed by the cheese producer in the United States, in order to offer children an entertaining platform to allow them to contribute to their school community, through the collection of Cacique bar codes.
More than 100 students, employees, parents, partners and sponsors gathered at the closing ceremony of the program to celebrate the success of the fundraising efforts. Among the participants was Cacique's Chief Marketing Manager, Enrique Botello, who presented a donation of $5,000 to the CEO of the UNO network, Juan Rangel, as a contribution to the network of charter schools for their participation in this initiative.
"The education and nutrition of Hispanic families have always been a priority for Cacique," said Botello. "We are committed to serving the Hispanic community in Chicago, offering them quality products today and always."
Students who contributed the largest number of bar codes for each participating school received a package of gifts that included an iPod Shuffle, plus a set of coupons equivalent to one year of free Cacique products.
Ashley Cerda, third-grade student at the Octavio Paz UNO School, was crowned the undisputed winner among all participating schools.
