HOUSTON, TX -- (Marketwired) -- 07/08/13 -- Today, Cimation announced the acquisition of Synergist SCADA Inc., a Calgary-based company specializing in automation solutions. This is the first acquisition for Cimation, a leading provider of automation, industrial IT, and enterprise data solutions that was included on Forbes's list of America's Most Promising Companies earlier this year.
Through this acquisition, Cimation cements its foothold in the Canadian market by absorbing Synergist into its newly founded Calgary office and welcoming its staff into the fold. Synergist's founder Austin Scott also joins Cimation, where he will continue to manage ongoing projects, oversee local client accounts, and provide key strategic insight.
As part of the acquisition, Cimation has also taken over the distribution and development of Synergist SCADA's intellectual property repertoire, which includes the Citect Power Tools library and Active Network Security appliance. Citect Power Tools speed up common SCADA development tasks while Active Network Security is a cyber security tool that detects network intrusions and reports them to the controls systems operators as alarms. These products bridge the gap between automation and IT, offering meaningful, user-friendly solutions for common industry problems.
Cimation's CEO Jonathan Klein views these products as key additions to the Cimation offering: "Cimation is committed to developing technology that revolutionizes the energy industry. By acquiring these products, we have stepped away from our historical position as a service provider toward our future as an innovative technology company using its expertise to create valuable intellectual property. Synergist SCADA's product repertoire plays to Cimation's strengths and offers our clients improved functionality and sophistication."
Ashley Burns, Director of Business Development, Canada, will spearhead activities in the new Calgary office, where he will create and execute strategic initiatives that set Cimation apart as a technology leader in the Canadian energy market. "I am excited for the acquisition of Synergist SCADA, already a key player in this market," Ashley said. "I look forward to working with Mr. Scott and his team to deliver Cimation's proven formula for success here in Alberta."
Cimation is an innovative technology company specializing in the delivery of automation technology projects, industrial IT consulting, and enterprise data solutions for the Energy Sector. Cimation is experienced in a wide variety of industrial projects, including Upstream Shale Oil & Gas Production, Upstream Offshore Oil & Gas Production, Midstream Gas Processing & Compression, Midstream Pipelines and Terminals & Storage. Cimation is currently running a number of initiatives aimed at developing intellectual property.
